Mozilla Ventures is an impact venture fund investing in founders that push the internet – and the tech industry – in a better direction. We invest in mission driven founders whose products advance the Mozilla Manifesto. We focus on companies building companies advancing:

We are seeking an associate who will focus on supporting our investment activities from deal sourcing through to impact monitoring. They will work closely with and as an integral part of our small and collaborative team.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Company Discovery and Pipeline Management:
- Support and directly contribute to sourcing deals by cultivating relationships with founders, other VCs and using market research to identify investment opportunities
- Managing deal in-take–reading/reviewing business plans and pitch decks and coordinating response to founders
- Investment Process:
- Involvement in all aspects of due diligence on new investments (business/pricing model, industry analysis, competitive landscape, and financial modeling / deal structuring)
- Preparing investment memos to drive investment decisions
- Portfolio and Ecosystem Engagement
- Working directly with portfolio companies to support their needs, as well as track and monitor their performance
- Engagement with the broader Mozilla eco-system to drive collaboration between the various organizations
- Fund Support
- Assisting in fund monitoring, reporting, and impact monitoring
- Actively supporting future fundraising efforts including fund modeling, fundraising support materials and potential LP research
The associate will be exposed to all parts of the venture and impact activities of the fund. This is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to be immersed in all aspects of early stage investing.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years of prior work experience in either: venture capital/impact investing or a technical or product role that brings deep insight into one of the thematic sectors the fund invests in
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and dedication
- High levels of personal integrity and honesty
- Detail orientation and strong organizational skills
- Understanding of financial modeling and accounting, as well as typical VC deals (financial terms, legal terms, structuring, etc.)
- Proven ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment (including proactively seeking guidance when needed)
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
Preferable
Demonstrated interest or experience in responsible technology or impact investing.
Location
Mozilla Ventures operates remotely with people currently in the UK and East Coast timezones. The associate will be required to be in a timezone with a significant overlap with those timezones. While working remotely, the associate needs to be available for in-person meetings and travel as needed.
